Student apartment cleaning in Sharjah is mostly about small flats, shared kitchens and tight budgets. The Bayut guide to University City of Sharjah describes an education district with more than 20 institutions and over 30,000 students, where studio flats of 200 to 395 sq ft are aimed at students. This student apartment cleaning Sharjah guide covers what a cleaner costs per hour, how to split the cost and the chores in a shared flat, a weekly checklist and what to do before you hand the keys back.
In short: regular cleaning is AED 45 per hour, or AED 35 per hour for visits of 4 to 8 hours, and deep cleaning is AED 65 per hour, the same in every emirate. A studio usually needs 2 to 3 hours, so a visit costs about AED 90 to 135, and four sharers booking 4 hours a week pay about AED 35 each per visit.
Student apartment cleaning Sharjah prices
Students rarely need a full time helper. What works is a short visit on a set day, or one bigger clean at the start and end of term. These planning figures use our hourly rates and the typical hours our teams plan for each home size; your exact price is confirmed before you book.
| Home | Regular visit | Deep clean (AED 65 per hour) |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | 2 to 3 hours, about AED 90 to 135 | 3 to 4 hours, about AED 195 to 260 |
| 1 bedroom flat | About 3 hours, about AED 135 | 4 to 5 hours, about AED 260 to 325 |
| 2 to 3 bedroom shared flat | 4 hours at AED 35, about AED 140 | 5 to 7 hours, about AED 325 to 455 |
Booking 4 hours or more brings the rate down from AED 45 to AED 35 per hour, so a 4 hour visit (AED 140) costs almost the same as a 3 hour one (AED 135). For a shared flat, that extra hour is usually the best value. Extras such as ironing, changing linen or cleaning inside the fridge can be added at an extra cost, confirmed at booking.

Where students live in Sharjah, and what that means for cleaning
Most students live either inside University City or in the residential areas around it. Bayut places University City between Muwaileh and Al Juraina, and its Muwaileh area guide notes that many students prefer Muwaileh for its location and lower rents. Others share flats further into the city, in districts such as Al Nahda or Al Majaz.
| Where you live | Typical home | Cleaning notes |
|---|---|---|
| University City apartments | Studios with a sleeping area and one bathroom; some 1 bedroom flats; shared lounges and laundry rooms in the building | Small spaces fill up fast: a 2 to 3 hour visit is usually enough. If you live in university run housing, check the residence rules on outside visitors before booking any cleaner. |
| Muwaileh | Low rise buildings with studios and family flats, often shared | Shared kitchens and bathrooms need the most time. Bayut notes tenants usually get one reserved parking space, so tell us where a visitor can stop. |
| Shared flats in the city | 2 to 3 bedroom flats split between several students | Agree the rota first, then book a weekly visit for the shared areas only and let each person keep their own room. |
Our page on cleaning services in Muwaileh covers the area next to University City, and our guides to apartment cleaning in Al Nahda and apartment cleaning in Al Majaz cover two other districts where many sharers rent.
Shared apartment cleaning: a rota that actually works
Most arguments in shared flats are not about dirt. They are about who did what. Agree the basics in the first week, while everyone is still polite: how clean is clean enough, how guests are handled and how shared costs are split. Then put it on paper.
Split the jobs by area, not by mood
Give each person a fixed area for a week, then rotate. A simple four person rota is kitchen, bathroom, living area and floors, plus bins. Post it on the fridge or in the flat group chat, and tick jobs off rather than leaving notes for each other.
Daily habits that save the weekend
- Dishes: wash, dry and put away your own dishes straight after cooking. Dishes left in the sink are the number one complaint in shared flats.
- Worktops and hob: wipe them after every use while the grease is still soft.
- Bathroom: squeegee or wipe the shower after use and keep the extractor fan running, so mould has less chance to start.
- Bins: take them out before they are full, especially in summer.
Split the cost of a cleaner fairly
If the flat books a weekly 4 hour visit for the shared areas, the cost is about AED 140 a visit at our AED 35 rate. Four sharers pay about AED 35 each per week; three pay about AED 47 each. Bedrooms stay each person’s own job, unless someone adds time for their room and pays for it.

Weekly student flat cleaning checklist
Whether you clean it yourselves or book a visit, this is the weekly list that keeps a small flat under control. Our full weekly cleaning checklist goes room by room in more detail.
- Kitchen: worktops, hob, sink and tap, microwave inside, cupboard fronts and handles, floor. Throw out old food from the fridge before the weekly shop.
- Bathroom: toilet, basin, shower or tub, mirror, then the floor. Descale taps and shower heads once a month.
- Bedroom and desk: clear the desk, dust shelves and window sills, change the bedding, vacuum under the bed.
- Living area: dust surfaces, wipe the TV stand and switches, plump and vacuum the sofa.
- Floors last: vacuum, then mop, working towards the door.

Start of term, end of term and moving out
Moving in
Book a deep clean before you unpack, while cupboards and floors are empty. The deep cleaning service covers inside cupboards, the oven, descaling and vent fronts, so you start the year in a flat that is actually clean.
Moving out
The end of the academic year is when deposits are won or lost. Empty the flat first, then clean inside every cupboard and wardrobe, the oven, bathrooms, windows and tracks, and the floors. Compare it with the photos or check in report from when you moved in. Our guide to end of tenancy cleaning in Sharjah has the full handover checklist.
Between terms
If the flat stands empty over the summer, switch off and unplug the fridge only after it is empty and wiped, and leave its door open. Close windows to keep dust out, and plan a quick clean before you come back. Humidity can bring back mould in closed bathrooms; the US EPA’s guide to mould and moisture suggests keeping indoor humidity below 60 percent.
Booking a cleaner as a student
- Agree who books and who pays before the first visit, and keep it in the flat group.
- Choose the hours: 2 to 3 hours for a studio, 4 hours for a shared flat’s common areas.
- Say what matters most: usually the kitchen and bathroom. The team works to your list.
- Share access details: building name, flat number, where to park and who will be home.
- Try one visit first: our regular cleaning service can then run weekly or fortnightly on a fixed day.

Frequently asked questions
How to clean student accommodation?
Work from top to bottom and finish with the floors. Clear and wipe the desk and shelves, change the bedding, clean the kitchen worktops, hob, sink and microwave, then the bathroom, and vacuum and mop last. Do a quick daily reset of dishes and surfaces, and a fuller clean once a week. In shared flats, a written rota keeps it fair.
What should I include on my apartment cleaning list?
Include the kitchen (worktops, hob, sink, microwave, fridge check), the bathroom (toilet, basin, shower, mirror, floor), bedrooms (dusting, bedding, under the bed), the living area (surfaces, sofa, switches) and the floors. Add monthly jobs such as descaling taps and wiping inside the fridge, and a deep clean at the start and end of each tenancy.
How much do you pay a cleaner per day?
With ImpressiFix, a full day of 8 hours costs about AED 280, because visits of 4 to 8 hours are charged at AED 35 per hour instead of AED 45. Deep cleaning is charged at AED 65 per hour. Most students do not need a full day: a studio usually takes 2 to 3 hours, and a shared flat’s common areas about 4 hours.
What is the best way to deep clean an apartment?
Empty and declutter first, then work room by room from high to low: fans, vents and shelves, then surfaces, inside cupboards and appliances, then bathrooms, and floors last. Kitchens and bathrooms take the most time because of grease and limescale. The easiest time is when you move in or out, while the flat is empty.
What is the 80/20 rule for cleaning?
It applies the Pareto idea to housework: a small share of jobs, roughly 20 percent, makes most of the visible difference, roughly 80 percent. In a student flat that usually means dishes, kitchen worktops, the bathroom and clutter on the floor. Do those first every day, and leave the detailed jobs for the weekly clean.
