A deep cleaning checklist only works if it is written for the home you actually live in. UAE homes stay closed and air conditioned for most of the year, fine sand settles in window tracks within days of a dusty spell, and hard water leaves white marks on every tap. The US Environmental Protection Agency notes that people spend about 90 percent of their time indoors, so what builds up inside matters. This checklist gives you the tasks room by room, the order to do them in, how often each one needs doing, and which jobs are worth handing to a team.
In practice, a good deep cleaning checklist for a UAE home starts with the AC grilles and high surfaces, moves through the kitchen and bathrooms, then bedrooms, living areas and the balcony, and finishes with every floor edge. Work top to bottom and dry to wet, so dust is removed once rather than moved around.
Before you start: prepare the home
Half an hour of preparation saves hours of cleaning around clutter. Clear surfaces first, because you cannot clean a worktop that is covered in jars.
- Declutter each room: put away, donate or bin what does not belong on surfaces and floors.
- Empty the kitchen cupboards and wardrobe shelves you want cleaned inside.
- Strip the beds and start the first wash, so laundry runs while you clean.
- Gather supplies: microfibre cloths, a degreaser, a descaler, a neutral floor cleaner, a soft brush, a vacuum with a brush head and a mop.
- Open windows for ventilation when you use stronger products, and never mix bleach with other cleaners. Health Canada warns that mixing bleach with other products can release toxic gases.

The deep cleaning checklist, room by room
Tick each line as you go. If you are booking a team instead, this is also a useful list to compare against what our deep home cleaning service includes, and our guide to what is included in a deep clean shows which tasks are standard and which cost extra.
High level and AC (every room, first)
- Dust AC vent grilles and return grilles, then wipe them with a damp cloth.
- Rinse the washable mesh filters in split units, if your unit has them, and let them dry fully before you refit them.
- Dust ceiling fans, light fittings, curtain rails and the tops of doors and wardrobes.
- Wipe high shelves and the tops of kitchen wall cupboards, where dust and grease form a sticky film.
Kitchen
- Soak the extractor hood filters in hot water with a degreaser.
- Clean the oven inside and out, including racks and the door seal.
- Clean the microwave inside, and wipe the outside of every appliance.
- Wipe inside cupboards and drawers, then the doors and handles.
- Degrease the hob, splashback tiles and grout lines.
- Descale the sink and taps.
- Pull out the fridge and cooker if you can, and clean the floor behind them.
The kitchen takes the longest. Our kitchen deep cleaning guide walks through each step.

Bathrooms
- Unscrew tap aerators and shower heads where you can, and soak them in a descaler or white vinegar.
- Descale the glass screen, tiles and taps.
- Scrub grout lines and silicone with a soft brush.
- Clean the toilet inside and out, including the base and behind it.
- Empty and wipe the vanity and the cabinet under the sink.
- Clear hair from the floor drain and basin waste.
Hard water is the main bathroom problem in the Gulf. Our guide to bathroom limescale removal in the UAE covers stubborn build up. If dark spots keep coming back on grout or silicone, it points to moisture, and the EPA’s brief guide to mould and moisture explains why the source must be fixed first.
Bedrooms
- Vacuum the mattress and turn or rotate it.
- Wash pillows, duvets and mattress protectors if the care labels allow it.
- Vacuum under the bed and behind the headboard.
- Wipe wardrobe shelves, rails and drawer insides.
- Wipe skirting, door frames, switches and handles.
Living and dining areas
- Take the cushions off the sofa and vacuum the gaps and underneath.
- Wash or vacuum curtains, and dust blinds slat by slat.
- Dust behind the TV and electronics, where static pulls in dust.
- Roll back rugs and clean the floor underneath.
- Wipe tables, chair legs, skirting and door frames.
Balcony, windows and tracks
- Vacuum sand from sliding door and window tracks, then wipe them with soapy water and dry.
- Clean the inside of the glass and the frames.
- Sweep and wash the balcony floor, and wipe the railings and outdoor furniture.
After a dusty spell this part needs doing first. Our cleaning after a sandstorm guide covers the quick version.
Floors last (every room)
- Vacuum every floor, including corners, under furniture and along the skirting.
- Mop with a cleaner suited to your floor: tile, marble and wood need different products.
- Scrub tile grout lines that have turned grey.

The right order: top to bottom, dry to wet
The order matters as much as the list. If you mop first and dust the AC grilles afterwards, the dust lands on a clean floor. Work in this sequence in each room.
- Declutter and empty what you want cleaned inside.
- Dust high: grilles, fans, lights, the tops of cupboards.
- Wipe middle surfaces: worktops, shelves, doors, switches.
- Wet work: degrease, descale and scrub in the kitchen and bathrooms.
- Vacuum every floor, then mop last, finishing at the door.

How often each deep cleaning task needs doing
Not every line on the checklist needs doing every time. This table shows a sensible rhythm for a typical UAE apartment or villa. Homes with pets, young children or a dusty location may need the shorter end.
| Task | How often | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| AC vent grilles and mesh filters | Monthly in summer | Grilles collect dust fastest when the AC runs all day |
| Window and sliding door tracks | Monthly, and after dusty days | Vacuum first, then wipe |
| Oven and extractor hood filters | Every 1 to 3 months | Depends on how much you cook |
| Bathroom descale and grout | Monthly | Little and often stops hard scale forming |
| Inside kitchen cupboards | Every 3 to 6 months | Do it when you check use by dates |
| Behind the fridge and cooker | Every 6 months | Unplug and move carefully |
| Mattress, pillows and curtains | Every 3 to 6 months | Follow the care labels |
| Full deep clean of the home | 2 to 4 times a year | For example before Ramadan, Diwali or guests |

A regular weekly or fortnightly visit handles the surfaces in between, and our home cleaning schedule for busy families shows how to plan the year around both.
Do it yourself or book a team?
A full deep clean of a 2 bedroom apartment is a long day for one person. Our guide to how long a deep clean takes gives the hours by home size. Many people do the monthly tasks themselves and book a team for the full reset two to four times a year.
A deep clean on ImpressiFix is priced per visit by home size, with equipment and materials included. These are the typical ranges on our cleaning price calculator.
| Home size | Sharjah and Ajman | Dubai and Abu Dhabi |
|---|---|---|
| Studio | AED 300 to 450 | AED 400 to 550 |
| 1 bedroom | AED 400 to 550 | AED 450 to 650 |
| 2 to 3 bedrooms | AED 550 to 800 | AED 600 to 900 |
| Townhouse | AED 500 to 900 | AED 700 to 1,000 |
| Villa | AED 700 to 1,500 | AED 900 to 1,800 |
Extras such as ironing, changing bed linen and cleaning inside the fridge can be added at an extra cost, confirmed at booking. If you are moving home, use our move in cleaning checklist instead, because an empty home needs a different list. For a festival reset, our Ramadan deep cleaning checklist spreads the work over four weeks.
Frequently asked questions
What should I include in a deep clean checklist?
Include the tasks a weekly clean skips: AC vent grilles and high surfaces, the oven and extractor hood filters, inside cupboards, bathroom descaling and grout, skirting and door frames, under and behind furniture, window tracks and every floor edge. In the UAE, add sand in sliding door tracks and rinsing the AC mesh filters. Our guide to what is included in a deep clean shows which of these a team covers as standard.
What are the 7 steps of cleaning?
The 7 step method used by professional cleaners runs roughly like this: remove rubbish and clutter, dust high areas first, damp wipe surfaces, clean and disinfect touch points and wet areas, restock supplies, clean the floors, and inspect the result. Food safety versions use a different set of steps (scrape, rinse, wash, rinse, sanitise, rinse, dry). For a home, the key idea is the same: top to bottom, dry to wet, floors last.
What is the correct order of steps for cleaning?
Declutter first, then dust from the highest point down, then wipe surfaces, then do the wet work in kitchens and bathrooms, and finish by vacuuming and mopping the floors towards the door. This stops dust falling onto areas you have already cleaned. The CDC’s cleaning and disinfecting guidance also advises cleaning surfaces before disinfecting them, because dirt stops disinfectants working well.
What is the 5-5-5 rule for cleaning?
The 5-5-5 rule is a quick tidying habit, not a deep clean: you pick five areas and spend five minutes on each, or remove five items from five areas, so the home stays under control in about 25 minutes. It works well between deep cleans to stop clutter building up. It will not reach the oven, grout or AC grilles, which is what a periodic deep clean is for.
What extra should a villa deep clean checklist cover?
A villa adds stairs and banisters, more bathrooms, a maid’s room and laundry area, outdoor drains, patios and often a majlis, so it needs a longer list and more hours. Plan it floor by floor, still working top to bottom. Our villa cleaning guide covers costs and a zone checklist.
