Booking a home cleaner for the first time in the UAE raises practical questions: who to trust with your keys, what the price includes, whether you need to be home and what happens if something is missed. It also raises a legal one. In a single enforcement round the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation blocked the files of 153 employers whose domestic workers were found working for others, with fines of up to Dh50,000, as reported by Gulf News. This guide walks you through a first booking from quote to follow up, so you know exactly what to expect.
For most households, booking a home cleaner in the UAE for the first time follows five steps: you describe your home and the service, you get a fixed price before anything is booked, you receive a confirmation with an arrival window, the team cleans to an agreed checklist, and you have a short window afterwards to report anything missed.
Before you book: pick the right service
The most common first time mistake is booking the wrong type of clean. A regular visit keeps a home tidy; it will not shift months of kitchen grease or limescale. If the home has not been professionally cleaned for a while, start with a deeper clean and then move to a routine.
| Service | Best when | Typical price | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular cleaning | You want weekly or fortnightly upkeep | Typically AED 30 to 45 per hour in Sharjah, AED 35 to 50 in Dubai | 2 to 3 hours for a studio, 3 to 4 hours for 2 to 3 bedrooms |
| One off clean | Before guests, after a party or to try a team first | Priced by hours, confirmed before booking | Hours agreed for your home size |
| Deep clean | The home has not had a thorough clean for months | Typically AED 300 to 450 for a studio to AED 700 to 1,500 for a villa in Sharjah | 3 to 4 hours for a studio, up to a full day for a villa |
| End of tenancy | You are moving out and need the deposit back | Typically from about AED 250 to 450 for a studio in Sharjah | Depends on size and condition |
Prices above are typical ranges from our cleaning price calculator, which covers all seven emirates. Our deep cleaning guide explains what a deep clean includes, and the regular cleaning service guide helps you choose between weekly and fortnightly visits.

Booking a home cleaner, step by step
Here is what happens at each stage of a first booking with ImpressiFix, based on our terms and conditions, and what you need to do.
| Stage | What happens | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Request a quote | You share home size, area, service and any extras through the quote form or WhatsApp | Mention condition honestly: heavy grease, pets or a recent renovation change the hours |
| 2. Fixed price | The exact price is confirmed before you book; if the home differs from the description, you are told before extra work starts | Check what is included and what costs extra |
| 3. Confirmation | You receive a booking confirmation by email, WhatsApp or through your account, with an arrival window | Arrange building access, parking and any visitor permits |
| 4. The visit | The team works through the checklist for the service you booked | Point out priorities and anything fragile at the start |
| 5. Follow up | If something was missed, report it within 48 hours with photos and a return visit or other fair remedy is arranged | Check the home the same day and rate the visit |
Our how it works page covers the booking flow for each service.

Getting your home ready for the first visit
Ten minutes of preparation makes the first visit faster and the result better.
- Sort out access. Tell the building security or concierge who is coming, and arrange an access card or visitor parking if needed. Our terms ask customers to arrange any building permits the visit requires.
- Put valuables away. Cash, jewellery, documents and small electronics belong in a drawer or cupboard before the team arrives.
- Clear the surfaces. Cleaners can clean a worktop much better than they can tidy one. Clearing clutter means more of the paid time goes on cleaning.
- Flag the fragile and the unusual. Marble, wooden floors, antiques or delicate fittings need specific products, so point them out.
- Mention pets. Let the team know in advance, and keep pets in another room if they are nervous with visitors.
- Write down your priorities. If time is tight, list the rooms or tasks that matter most so they are done first.
Materials and equipment
For regular and one off visits, you choose whether the team brings cleaning materials and equipment or uses yours; bringing them is listed as an add on on the service listings. Deep cleans include professional equipment. If you prefer particular products, for example fragrance free ones in a home with a baby, leave them out and say so when you book.
Extras
Tasks such as ironing, changing bed linen or cleaning inside the fridge can be requested at an extra cost, confirmed at booking. Asking for them up front means the right number of hours is planned.
On the day: what to expect
Arrival is given as a time window rather than an exact minute. If a team is running late, you are told as early as possible.
You do not have to stay home, but many people choose to be there for the first visit to meet the cleaner, walk them through the home and agree priorities. Once you are comfortable, you can arrange access through the concierge or building security instead.
A first visit can take longer than later ones, because the home has not yet been on a routine. That is one reason to start with a deep or one off clean and keep the regular visits shorter afterwards.
After the clean: payment, feedback and changes
Payment is online by card where offered, or as agreed at booking, and prices on the quote include VAT where it applies. Check the home the same day while the visit is fresh. If something on the checklist was missed, our terms give you 48 hours to report it with photos, and the same applies if you believe something was damaged.
Need to cancel or move a visit? Use the link in your confirmation email, your account, or contact us. If a late cancellation or no access charge applies, it is shown to you before you confirm the booking. Our team is available Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 7pm.
Stay on the right side of UAE rules
Part time domestic help should come through a licensed company, not a freelancer working on someone else’s visa. The Gulf News guide to hiring help notes that going through an agency is the legal route for part time work, and the MOHRE enforcement above shows the fines are real. Arranging work privately with a cleaner you met through a platform carries the same risk. If you are not booking with us, ask any company for its trade name and licence number and check it using the UAE government licence verification page. Our checklist for choosing a cleaning company in Sharjah lists what else to verify before you book.
You also have clear consumer rights. Federal Law No. 15 of 2020, summarised on the Ministry of Economy and Tourism consumer protection page, gives you the right to accurate information about a service and fair settlement of disputes. Comparing full time options instead? Our housemaid cost guide sets out the legal routes and typical costs.

Frequently asked questions
What should I do before a cleaner comes for the first time?
Arrange building access and parking, put away cash, jewellery and documents, and clear clutter from worktops and floors so the paid time goes on cleaning. Point out fragile surfaces, pets and your priority rooms when the team arrives. Our terms and conditions list what we ask of customers before a visit.
Should I be home when the cleaner comes?
You do not have to be, but being home for the first visit helps you meet the cleaner, explain priorities and check the result. Once you are comfortable, access can be arranged through the concierge or building security. Whatever you choose, agree access details when you book.
How long does a first house clean take?
A regular clean typically takes 2 to 3 hours for a studio and 3 to 4 hours for a two to three bedroom apartment, while a deep clean can take from 3 to 4 hours up to a full day for a villa. A first visit often takes longer because the home has not been on a routine. The cleaning price calculator shows typical hours and prices for your home.
Do cleaners bring their own supplies?
It depends on the company and the service. With ImpressiFix you choose whether the team brings materials and equipment or uses yours on regular and one off visits, and deep cleans include equipment. The regular cleaning listing shows the options.
Is it legal to hire a freelance cleaner in the UAE?
Part time domestic help should be booked through a licensed company or agency rather than a freelancer working on another sponsor’s visa. MOHRE has blocked employer files and referred cases with fines of up to Dh50,000, as Gulf News reported. Booking through a licensed provider keeps employment and liability with the company.
